Welcome to Coachk.net

This is Mr. Kaminski's personal website, newly redesigned for the 2009-2010 school year. If you are a Delran student or parent, welcome! You'll find a lot of useful links on this website: links to daily homework assignments, links to the textbooks that we use in class, links to primary source readings that I might assign, tips on writing good essays, information on plagiarism and footnoting, and numerous other things. I encourage you to explore this website, and if you find any broken links, or any other errors, don't hesitate to contact me to let me know!

The 2009-2010 school year will be my 8th in the Delran School District, and my 18th overall. Teaching history is what I love doing - my Master's Degree (from Temple Univeristy) is in Military History, I read history books for fun (gasp!), and I actually enjoy going to grade AP US History Exams in June, during which I read over 1000 essays in a seven day span. My teaching schedule is US History and Holocaust/Genocide Studies. For most of my time here at Delran, I have taught primarily US II, but this year, I will have a section of Honors US I. I am looking forward to returning to the early period of American History, and possibly having some students for two years in a row!

I love being an active part of the Delran Schools. I am a class advisor for the Class of 2012. This is my second go-around with class advising, and I couldn't ask for a better partner than Mrs. Lori Volz! This year the "big event" will be the Frosh-Soph Formal, although we'll have many other activities and fund-raisers, including our annual Fall Mum Sale and Spring Flower Sale.

I also coach the Freshman Girls Basketball Team and assist with both the JV and Varsity teams. I love it. I've been coaching girls basketball for 15 years now. Last year was particularly exciting as our Freshman team went 16-0! That was a lot of fun! I always look forward to the Thanksgiving holiday, because the season kicks off on the day after Thanksgiving.

I also remain actively involved in my professional community. I stay pretty busy by serving as a member of the Burlington County Professional Development Board; I am the Grievance Chairperson for the Delran Education Association; I am a participant in the Alice Paul Fellowship Program (a Teaching American History Grant); I try to stay current in my field by attending relevant in-services, and, on occasion, I also provide in-service instruction to other teachers as well. Last year alone, I accrued well over 100 hours in professional development activities.

You may have noticed the two young ladies at the top of this web page. They are my girls, Jessica and Ericka. They are going into 6th and 5th grades, respectively. You might see them around school from time to time, as they have been known to be "gym rats" during basketball season, and they like making an appearance during "Take Your Child to Work Day" and on random other occasions. They keep me pretty busy, as you might imagine, through their sports (basketball and soccer, mostly), piano lessons, and numerous school activities. My wife, Jennifer, is a full-time teacher, too. She is a reading specialist. This is her second year back to work after spending the last 10 at home to raise our girls.

I should probably throw this out there right now, because you'll get a big dose of my sports interests throughout the year...I LOVE the Boston Red Sox (my mother was born and raised in New England), Duke basketball (my best friend and his big sister went there), the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State Football (because my wife was born and raised there), and if I have to, I'll root for the 76ers (although I hate the NBA). I am a huge Tiger Woods fan as well.

Ok, I think I've covered most of the important stuff! And now you know a little more about me. I am looking forward to getting to know you this year. So, I'll sign off for now. See you in September!
